I think it's weird when people write about themselves in third person on their own website, so here goes. As you've probably already figured out, I'm Matt Rowell. Up until recently, I've been a website developer for nearly 12 years. I've always had a passion for photography, films, and digital video. That passion drove me to start shooting as much as possible, and finally I've had a chance to put together somewhat of an online portfolio to show what I've done.
I manage a 3200 square foot studio in the heart of North Portland, not far from the Rose Quarter. It used to be a popular afterparty spot known as "The Silo." I share it with many other talented photographers as well as a recording engineer. We're very open to inquiries about booking the space for other photographers and as an event hall. The space is great, it's not the typical boring studio that you'd expect. It's very dynamic and beautiful, and it provides many great atmospheres to shoot in. Award-winning published photographers have shot in our studio, and I definitely hope to be one of them some day.
At the moment I am gainfully employed full time at ISITE Design, one of Portland's most innovative web design firms. I produce video content for flash-based eLearning applications and I'm also our in-house video editor.
I own an operate one of the world's top Airsoft community websites, Airsoft Pacific. In terms of traffic, AP is ranked 3rd in the United States and 8th in the world. I shoot live action videos of Pacific Northwest events, they've been a major hit on youtube with hundreds of thousands of views.
I'm also working on producing a sketch comedy TV pilot, contributing to a few music videos, and as always I'm shooting photos and video for events all the time. Sometimes I find time to sleep.
Thanks for checking out my work,
- Matt
